Once Upon a Console is a monthly gaming night at The Hackney Attic above Hackney Picturehouse. Reminisce in a sea of retro gaming with their lightgun arcade and prize tournaments of video game classics. With the aim of bringing what is often a solitary past time into a new light OUAC has made space for the gaming of yesteryear.
The monthly gaming event was created by Alastair Binnie-Lubbock and Tom Geoffrey. They now alternate venues between The Hackney Attic and Upstairs at the Ritzy.
For their next event players were given the opportunity to vote for which game they most wanted a tournament for. The winning title is to be decided on the 12th March. Potential titles include Soul Calibre, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Goldeneye. You can take part in the poll for what game is played as part of the Player’s Choice Tournament on the Once Upon a Console Facebook page (if you want to). So if you fancy battling it out in Smash Bros. or crashing out the competition in Burnout take a trip down to OUAC and see what’s in store. We know we will.
Once Upon a Console takes place every third Wednesday of the month, 7.30pm till 11pm. Their next event is on 20th March at The Hackney Attic. General entry is free. Entry into the prize tournament is £3 which can be bought on the night.
